What I Taught at Lily Dale About Pet Mediumship
On June 25, 2026, I had the opportunity to present a three-hour workshop at the Lily Dale Lyceum in Lily Dale, New York, focused on a subject that has become central to my work: Personal Pet Mediumship and the deeper connection we can develop with our companion animals Here and Hereafter.
The workshop centered around a concept I call becoming a Companion Animal Transponder.
Within my framework, this means learning to work intentionally with your own awareness, behavioral patterns and energetic bandwidth so you can become more receptive to communication with companion animals.
This includes the pets who are physically beside us today and the pets who have crossed into Spirit.
Why Lily Dale Was Such a Meaningful Place to Teach This Work
Lily Dale has a long history connected to Spiritualism, mediumship and the exploration of communication beyond the physical world.
Because my own approach to Personal Pet Mediumship is rooted in Spiritualism, presenting this work there felt especially meaningful.
My workshop brought together several areas that have shaped the way I understand pet communication, including Spiritualism, my background in psychology, and my own experiences developing mediumship.
These ideas eventually became part of the individualized process I now teach through Personal Pet Mediumship Development.
What I Mean by a Companion Animal Transponder
I use the term Companion Animal Transponder to describe a person who is learning to intentionally modify the way they receive, process and respond to information so they can become more receptive to communication with companion animals.
I believe our pets operate with their own energetic presence and awareness.
Within my teaching framework, developing pet mediumship involves learning to recognize the patterns within ourselves that may support or interfere with that connection.
That is why this work is deeply personal.
Two people can love their pets equally and still process information very differently. One person may naturally receive strong visual impressions. Another may notice sounds, words, sensations, emotions or physical feelings first.
Part of the Development process is discovering how you receive information.
The Role of Bio-Magnetic Bandwidth in My Method
One of the central ideas I introduced during the Lily Dale workshop was what I call bio-magnetic bandwidth.
I use this term to describe the energetic frequency range through which I believe we interact with the world around us.
In my framework, our thoughts, behaviors, emotional patterns and habitual ways of responding can affect that bandwidth.
Personal Pet Mediumship Development therefore includes becoming more aware of the patterns you carry and practicing intentional changes that may help you become more receptive to your companion animals.
This is one reason I begin the process with my Bio-Magnetic Bandwidth Discovery Protocol.
The questionnaire gives me an opportunity to learn how you naturally process information, how you relate to your pets, what you believe about communication and the afterlife, and what may be influencing your current bandwidth.
Pets in the Here
Pet mediumship is often associated only with animals who have died.
My work also includes communication with pets who are very much here with us.
Living companion animals are communicating constantly through behavior, body language, routines, emotional responses and the unique relationship they have developed with us.
I believe there is potential to become more intentional and receptive within that relationship.
For some people, that may mean exploring a deeper bond with a pet they already love.
For others, it may involve welcoming a new pet into the household, navigating relationships between multiple animals, or simply becoming more attentive to what a companion animal may already be expressing.
Pets in the Hereafter
The other side of my work involves pets who have crossed into Spirit.
My Spiritualist perspective includes the belief that life continues beyond physical death and that the relationships we form with our companion animals can continue as well.
I do not believe friendship is defined by physical location.
I define friendship as an ongoing, mutually beneficial relationship based on positive communication.
That belief is central to what I call Pet-Centered Spiritualism.
For someone grieving the loss of a beloved pet, the possibility that the relationship continues can become a very meaningful part of their spiritual exploration.
Why I Teach This as an Individualized Process
My professional career began in 1976 and included work in both School Psychology and Clinical Psychology.
Through that work, I spent decades learning about individual differences, learning theory, personality, neuro-linguistics and psychometrics.
Those experiences continue to shape the way I teach today.
People learn differently. They notice different things. They process experiences differently. Their strengths, habits and natural communication styles are different.
I use that understanding to individualize Personal Pet Mediumship Development around the person in front of me.
My goal is to help you begin developing your own ability to connect more intentionally with your companion animals.
From a Lily Dale Workshop to the Work I Teach Today
The concepts I presented at Lily Dale were part of a framework I had already been developing through my own experiences with mediumship and companion animals.
That work continues to evolve through the Personal Pet Mediumship Development process I teach today.
The language may sound unfamiliar at first.
Companion Animal Transponder. Bio-Magnetic Bandwidth. Pet-Centered Spiritualism.
Each term describes a different piece of the larger framework I use to help people explore their own capacity for deeper communication with companion animals.
You do not need to understand every term before you begin.
The first step is simply becoming curious about how you already receive information and what may be possible within the relationships you share with your pets.
